Correct use of hand tools and latest advances in processing stone

The ASAA, Miller College, NSW and CDK Stone have joined forces to present the following programne on 26 November:

5.00pm: TAFE Teacher Michael Landers discusses the growing need for a highly trained workforce of qualified stonemasons required to meet the demand imposed by a rising tide of imports and increased local production.
5.00pm: A hands on demonstration of the correct techniques required to use the latest hand tools.
5.50pm: An audio visual presentation of the latest CNC and stone working machinery employed to cut and process natural stone. Presented by Peter Mitchelhill of CDK Stone.
6.30pm: Complementary food and beverages supplied by ASAA.
(All tools supplied by CDK Stone).

Admission is FREE to all stone & tile industry personnel, including ASAA members, and design and construct professionals.

MARMOMACC exhibition is regarded as the benchmark for the industry

The exhibition is regarded as the benchmark for the industry and is promoted in Australia by the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Melbourne. ICCI is pleased to confirm the 49th Marmomacc annual International Trade fair for Stone, Design and Technology. Presented by Veronafiere, Marmomacc will be held 24-27 September in Verona, Italy. Marmomacc is the showcase event for current evolutions and trends in stone and marble design, materials and machinery and is now co-located with Abitare Il Tempo – Furniture/Design/Project/Trade Fair and Conference.

ASAA Architectural Stone Award Winners at designEX 2014

The Australian Stone Advisory Association Architectural Stone Awards were presented during the first evening of designEX 2014 (28 May) by David West of International Conservation Services and architect Stephen Varady, of Stephen Varady Architecture.

The Awards were adjudicated by:

The Award criteria were established by ASAA and the Australian Institute of Architects to reward commercial and residential projects which exhibit ‘good design values’ and ‘appropriate use’ of materials.

The awards acknowledged the use of imported stone and Australian natural stone and were presented to the project architect or sculptor, and the stone supplier.

Approximately 130 people attended the presentation. The Awards were sponsored by Stone Initiatives.
