Welcome

The Australian Stone Advisory Association (ASAA) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion of Australian stone at home and overseas. The association seeks to develop standards of excellence in performance and product supply, and to facilitate greater co-operation between the various sectors and competing entities of our industry.

Design manual for end-users

Published in Discovering Stone magazine, page 43. Architects, builders, designers, property developers and stone industry participants have always lamented the lack of a comprehensive guide to the specification, installation, protection and restoration of natural stone. Architects seeking advice on standards have invariably turned to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Material) for guidance. Given the absence of available funding for the development of similar standards in Australia, the Australian Stone Advisory Association determined that the best, and most effective way forward, lay in development of a comprehensive manual which references the ASTM recommendations, and provides a contemporary snapshot of local and international industry practices.

MEDIA RELEASE: Response to NSW call for moratorium on use of engineered stone

Helping to protect the health and safety of everybody working in the stone industry is paramount to the Australian Stone Advisory Association (ASAA). In response to recent calls in NSW for a moratorium on the cutting of engineered stone, ASAA believes this is unnecessary. Work practices that allow the safe use of engineered stone include wet cutting, the use of local exhaust ventilation, on-tool extraction, and respirators, to ensure the protection of worker health.
